PCR Kit for Chloroplastic Gene Transfer RuBisCO
Experiment principle:
We aim to amplify gene segments distributed across chloroplastic or nuclear genomes that encode for two subunits of the same protein (RuBisCo). For this purpose, the kit contains 2 different primer pairs: one targets the gene located in the chloroplast, the other targets the gene located in the nucleus.
The design of the activities was done in collaboration with the Institute of Plant Molecular Biology (IBMP), Strasbourg, France.
RuBisCo, the key enzyme of photosynthesis
Ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RuBisCo) enables the fixation of carbon dioxide, using solar energy captured by chlorophyll. It is one of the most abundant proteins on Earth, initiating the Calvin cycle and playing a crucial role in plant biomass production.
