Spectrophotometers
A spectrophotometer allows you to determine the concentration of a chemical species in a solution. To do this, the device measures the intensity of light (I) which passes through a sample. This intensity is then compared to the intensity of light (Iₒ) passing through a reference sample (which contains the same solvent and cuvette as the tested sample). Using Beer-Lambert's law, we can deduce the concentration of the desired chemical species in the test sample.
