Optical multiplexing - WDM

Optical multiplexing, better known as wavelength division multiplexing (WDM), is a technique used to increase the transmission capacity of optical fibers by allowing multiple signals to be transmitted simultaneously through a single fiber.

This is achieved by using different wavelengths to carry distinct pieces of information within the same fiber. Each wavelength carries an independent signal, enabling the simultaneous transmission of multiple data streams.

We offer a range of educational products specifically designed to help you understand the effects of multiplexers and demultiplexers, as well as how to select the appropriate wavelengths for your applications.
