Viewfinder

The viewfinder is a small optical telescope used to aim at an object located at a finite distance. It is composed of an objective lens, an eyepiece, and a reticle. Unlike a telescope sight, the distance between the object and the viewfinder (called the object distance or front focal distance) is adjusted or fixed to a specific value. The viewfinder is used to locate, measure, or align a nearby object with precision, for example on an optical bench or within an experimental setup.
