100 neutral test strips (negative control) to assess students' sensitivity to the PTC molecule.

The gene that determines sensitivity or insensitivity to PTC (TAS2R38) encodes a taste receptor in the mouth. Individuals who possess the mutated version of the gene will be sensitive to PTC (bitter taste with the strip), while individuals with the non-mutated version will be insensitive to bitterness.
