Catabolic repression kit for S. cerevisiae ADE 2 - 500 mL of YPG medium ready to use
This set, specifically dedicated to the 10th grade class, is designed for quick implementation. Ideal for an introduction to basic techniques of cultivating microorganisms. By modifying environmental culture parameters of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae ADE2, the student will experimentally demonstrate that gene expression is subject to environmental factors. Thus, they will be able to manipulate the adenine content and/or create anaerobic conditions and then compare the results to the control box. The ADE2 yeast on complete medium uses an adenine biosynthesis pathway that carries a mutation leading to the accumulation of a red pigment. In a very adenine-rich environment (provided by the tablet), the yeast does not use this biosynthesis pathway: the colonies therefore revert to their usual beige/cream color. Information for ordering: Order 2 weeks before the desired reception date. Specify the desired reception date before ordering. Deliveries are only made on Tuesday and Wednesday before 1:00 p.m. and will not be combined with other materials. Format: 18 complete tests (2 versions available) Experiment duration: 2 sessions of 50 minutes Storage duration: 1 week (or more if the strain is subcultured) Storage condition: +4°C A kit consists of: - 1 strain box for subculturing (S. cerevisiae ADE 2) - 36 Petri dishes - 500 mL of ready-to-pour YPG medium - 20 adenine-impregnated tablets
