Optical material
Specialized in the design, manufacture and supply of optical teaching materials for Higher Education, Ovio Instruments has been pursuing its primary vocation since 2007.
An optical setup on a table requires four fundamental elements:
An optical table
A set of optical component holders
Mounting bases (if the table is perforated) with appropriate screws
A set of rods to adjust the height of the optical axis
1 - Optical Tables
Optical tables allow for more advanced experimental setups compared to an optical bench. The table surface provides two spatial dimensions, making it ideal for beam splitting and recombination.
Honeycomb Tables
A regularly perforated platform allows for securely fixing the component holders using mounting bases. The NewMax table is steel honeycombed, making it magnetic for pre-positioning elements before clamping.
Magnetic Table
The MagMax table is a cost-effective magnetic solution, ensuring stable component positioning through magnetization. However, it does not allow component fixation and is not recommended for interferometric setups.
2 - Optical Component Holders
These holders secure optical components mounted on rods and can be either fixed or adjustable.
Two ranges exist:
For Ø12 mm rods → NewMax component holders
For Ø10 mm rods → MagMax component holders
Both ranges are cross-compatible with NewMax and MagMax tables.
3 - Mounting Bases
Mounting bases come in different shapes depending on the type of holder:
Fork-shaped for magnetic NewMax holders
Clamp-shaped for MagMax magnetic holders
U-shaped or square for simple NewMax columns
Rectangular for adjustable NewMax holders
These bases are exclusively for NewMax tables
4 - Rods
Having rods of various lengths is essential. Some mounts are bulkier than others, requiring height adjustments to maintain the optical axis.
We offer different rod lengths compatible with both NewMax and MagMax ranges: Ø12 mm rods and Ø10 mm rods.
