Experiment Bi-prism of Fresnel
Subjects discussed :
- Study of non-localized interferences
- Determination of the angle at the top of the bi-prism
- Determination of the bi-prism index
Principles and objectives:
A Fresnel bi-prism is made up of two identical prisms joined together at the base and with the same very small angle B (around ten minutes). This offset gives rise to interference in the overlap zone between the two beams.
Measuring the interfringe allows us to find the angle at the top of the prism.
