This amplification allows for the study of one of the techniques for identifying genetic fingerprints: the study of the polymorphism of repeated sequences of VNTR (Variable Number of Tandem Repeats), also known as minisatellites.
These non-coding DNA sequences vary in length from 7 to 100 base pairs and in the number of copies, making them specific to each individual.
The experiment targets a 16 base pair VNTR sequence located on the D1s80 locus of human chromosome 1. 27 different alleles and 729 genotypes are possible.

In this practical work, electrophoresis will help identify the culprit by comparing the DNA collected at the crime scene with the DNA of 3 different suspects.
The DNA solutions are calibrated and require no preparation.
Format: 40 students (20 pairs) equals 20 tests equals 80 samples to analyze + 10 samples (molecular weight)
Duration of the experiment: 60 min
Storage duration: 12 months
Storage condition: - 20 °C
Separation of DNA fragments: 2% agarose gel
