DNA footprint analysis kit - 1660007EDU | Bio-Rad
The genetic fingerprint analysis kit allows your students to use real DNA as evidence while playing the role of investigators at the crime scene to discover for themselves "Who is the perpetrator of the crime?".
Principle:
The six DNA samples contained in the genetic fingerprint collection kit are plasmids designed to mimic the natural variations of DNA that exist between one human being and another. One DNA sample was taken from a "crime scene" and five samples were obtained from various "suspects". Each DNA sample is digested using a mixture of two DNA restriction enzymes, which generates a distinct set of DNA fragments for each sample. The resulting DNA fragments are separated by electrophoresis on agarose gel and visualized to identify the culprit.
