Microbiology Initiation Kit - Yeasts
This kit offers the possibility to introduce students to microbiology. Present in the production of bread, beer, yeasts perfectly illustrate the role of microorganisms in food transformations. Handling food yeasts is safe and does not require specific equipment. Students carry out cultures and observe the physico-chemical parameters necessary for the basics of food transformations. - In a first series of activities, this kit contains all the material to highlight the role of temperature in the development of microorganisms and therefore in food preservation. - A second activity focuses on fermentation processes and the detection of carbon dioxide or alcohol. This kit offers a simple broth manipulation that does not require agar pouring. Format: 10 complete tests Experiment duration: 1 or 2 sessions depending on the protocol followed Shelf life: 6 months Storage conditions: Room temperature, dry
The kit consists of:
- 60 sterile 5 mL single-use tubes
- Sachet of freeze-dried yeast
- 10 dropper pipettes
- Minimum culture medium (200 ml)
- Saccharose (5 g) and glucose (5 g)
- 2 fermentation vessels
