This refractometer is suitable for the following measurements:

- The Brix degree measures a concentration (%) of a compound in solution: ratio between the mass of dissolved solids (in grams) in 100 g of the tested solution.
- Honey water content
- Baumé degree (°Bé) to determine the relative density of liquids

The models of the KERN ORA-B series are universal manual and analog refractometers that require no maintenance.
