The grinding fineness gauge allows to detect the fineness and the presence of large particles or agglomerates in a dispersion. It does not characterize the actual grain size or their distribution. Grinding gauges are used in quality control in production, storage, and application services of dispersions in industries such as paint, pigments, inks, paper, ceramics, pharmacy, food, etc. The grinding fineness gauge is a flat steel block with a surface notched with two flat and uniform grooves. These grooves extend from a maximum depth at one end of the gauge to decreasingly reach the zero point at the other edge of the steel block. The depth of the grooves can be read thanks to the engraved scales on the sides. **Usage** Place the product sample at the deepest point of the grooves. Spread using the precision ruler in an inclined position until the other end. Hold the block at eye level and determine the measuring point where large particles or traces are visible.
