To ensure the proper functioning of the device, the scale must be regularly removed. The time interval between 2 cleanings depends on the hardness of the feed water. In regions where the water is very hard, it may be necessary to clean the distiller every week. In regions where the water is softer, several weeks can pass between 2 cleaning operations. Significant scaling will reduce the quality of the distilled water and the lifespan of the heating element. The appearance of white deposits on the heating element and/or the boiler is a sign that descaling is necessary. Scale dissolves perfectly in a 10% diluted formic acid solution.
