RT-PCR Investigation Kit on GMOs - 1662560EDU | Bio-Rad
In this kit, students extract DNA from food, then perform a quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) to test for the presence of DNA sequences found in over 85% of genetically modified crops (GMOs): the 35S promoter of the cauliflower mosaic virus and the terminator of the nopaline synthase gene from Agrobacterium tumefaciens.
This activity allows students to quantify and determine what fraction of the food product is composed of genetically modified ingredients, similar to what standard testing laboratories do.
Format: 32 students
Duration of the experiment: 3 sessions of 45 min each
Storage: 12 months
Composition: GMO Investigator PCR Kit, iQ SYBR® Green Supermix, Small DNA Electrophoresis Reagent Pack, sterile water, tubes.
