Mutant Bithorax Drosophila - set (6 slides)
-50%
On each slide, 1 mutated Bithorax drosophila (left) and 1 wild-type control drosophila (right), whole and positioned in profile, were embedded in resin between slide and cover slip. This kit allows studying: - the theme of organism relatedness through the study of development and the identification of families of regulatory genes for morphogenesis: the homeotic genes. These very ancient and well-preserved gene families are common to living beings. - A case of regulatory genes grouped in a complex governing development here (complex phenotype). A homeotic gene member of the bithorax domain (Ubx) is mutated. This mutation leads to the transformation of the anterior half of the 3rd thoracic segment into the anterior half of the 2nd thoracic segment. At the anatomical level, the anterior part of the drosophila's balancer is replaced by an atrophied wing.
