Seismic and temperature model
This model consists of a shock generator housing and a support material bar. An electromagnet ensures the creation of the mechanical shock as well as the synchronization of the measurement when the student presses the red button on the housing. It is possible to generate shocks of increasing intensities by supplying the housing with increasingly higher direct voltages (up to 12 V). Thus, the student observes the relationship between the initial shock and the amplitude of the measured wave. To go further, it is possible to relate the speed of the wave to the temperature of the material. The bar is pre-stored in the freezer and a thermometer is placed in a specific housing. The waves generated by the electromagnet move through the bar at a different speed when it is at -5 °C or +25 °C.
