Skull without mandible, slightly flattened, with a cranial capacity of 1100 cm3. Sub-orbital ridges.
Possible pre-Neanderthal, its placement between Homo heidelbergensis and Neanderthals is still a matter of debate.
Discovered in Steinheim, Germany (1933).
Dating: approx. 250,000 years ago.
