The new models Byko-visc CP and CP Lite have many advantages, suitable for all R&D or QC laboratories. For quick and easy viscosity measurements of materials with high shear rates, regardless of their application.

A cone and plate viscometer is used to characterize the viscosity of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids.

It consists of a plate on which the user places a small amount of sample (1 drop) and a rotating cone with a very small angle. The tip of the cone just touches the surface of the plate.

Small volume -> easy filling and cleaning, quick measurement.

The absolute shear rate is measured.

Shear rate: rate at which fluid layers or blades intersect. Determined by both the geometry and the flow velocity.

Viscosity = shear stress / shear rate.

The cone geometry, speed, sample volume, and sample temperature are all controlled.

Applications:

Byko-visc CP or CP Lite at 900 RPM + cone 1:

- Standard method in the paint industry to control coating viscosity during roller application: ISO 2884 - High shear rate method

Byko-visc CP or CP Lite H at 400 RPM + cone 5:

- Standard method for measuring the viscosity of epoxy resins at high temperature 235°C

Byko-visc CP or CP Lite L + cone 9:

- Measuring viscosity of an eye gel in small volume

Byko-visc CP + cone 8:

- Measuring the rheological behavior of a cosmetic cream
