Micro-speaker photosynthesis

This micro-chamber allows to highlight the production of oxygen in the presence of light, and the consumption of this gas in the dark phase. The equipment is very simple to implement and use, students have a high level of autonomy to conduct their investigations regardless of their level. This is a single-factor, direct approach, with alternations of 3 to 5 minutes for each phase. When combined with an optical oxygen probe, the photosynthesis micro-chamber allows manipulation of a small reaction volume. Thus, 2 to 4 mL of microalgae solution (euglena, scenedesmus, ...) are sufficient. Remarkable results are obtained with less than 20 specimens of Roscoff worms. Furthermore, at each illumination phase, the production of oxygen is immediately visible. This is made possible by the original position of the probe. The optical cell is oriented upwards, which increases the sensitivity of detecting variations in the oxygen level. The device consists of: - A transparent 5 mL micro-chamber. Equipped with a watertight seal, it is placed directly on an optical probe with a diameter of 12 mm. - A rubber light-blocking cover - A tray that securely holds the probe and stores accessories after use. This elastomer tray attaches to its metal base (for reference 453156) and to all types of mounting supports with a rod diameter of 8 to 14 mm or a square tube of the modumontage type.
