Chladni Plates (Set of 2)

Plates for highlighting the propagation of sound waves in solids (Chladni figures).
To be adapted on the Melde's membrane vibrator.

Operation:
Attach a plate to the Melde's membrane vibrator.
Sprinkle the plate with grains of salt.
The vibrator transmits the vibrations to the plate which agitates the grains of salt.
These grains organize themselves into geometric figures: they are ejected from regions where the amplitude is the greatest and gather along the nodal lines (places where the vibration amplitude is weak or zero).
The distance between two nodal lines gives an estimate of the half-wavelength.
The use of two plates shows that the spatial frequency decreases with the thickness of the plate.

Set of 2 plates with thicknesses of 0.5 and 1 mm.
