Vibrator consisting of a speaker membrane connected to a rod vibrating vertically. The end of the rod is equipped with a clamping screw to attach a cord, a spring, or a Chladni plate. Power is supplied by a low-frequency generator delivering 20 VDC (not included), allowing the frequency of vibration of the vertical rod to be adjusted. The maximum vibration amplitude is achieved for a frequency close to 40 Hz. The use of a function generator (not included) allows for increasing the vibration amplitude.
To be completed with:
- a spring or a cord to highlight longitudinal or transversal vibrations.
- Chladni plates to demonstrate the concept of spatial wavelength.
Note: It is recommended to use a maximum mass of 50 g for the cord tension.
The cord vibrator allows for producing a standing wave using a rigid or elastic cord to visualize concepts of frequency, wavelength, and resonance, as well as parameters affecting these quantities.
