This set allows the study of all parts of a fiber laser: pumping system, active medium, linear or ring cavity. The pump diode control unit allows control of the temperature and injection current of the laser diode, as well as modulation of the current and therefore the ouExperimentut power. It also has an amplifier for the photodiode. The laser emission threshold and the efficiency of the 980 nm laser pump can be determined. The coupling of the pump source into the Erbium-doped fiber as well as the absorption and fluorescence properties are studied. A linear Erbium-doped fiber laser can be created using a resonant mirror. By closing this cavity, it is also possible to build a ring fiber laser! These two types of configurations can be studied based on parameters such as the length of the active fiber (4 lengths provided), the level of losses, the pump power, and so on. Optionally, a 1.55-micron laser allows the study of the Erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA).
