Presentation

This kit can be used after the pGLO™ bacterial transformation kit (ref. 115057) to separate and purify the protein responsible for the fluorescence of pGLO-transformed bacteria. Connect two commonly used biotechnology techniques: transformation and chromatography.

Principle:
A colony of transformed bacteria (produced using the pGLO bacterial transformation kit) is placed in liquid cultures overnight, then lysed to release the bacterial cell content. The GFP is purified from the bacterial lysate using the hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC) columns provided in this kit.

Lab Duration: 3 sessions of 45 minutes
Format for 32 students: 8 stations (4 students per station)
