Thermocyclers

Without a thermocycler, there is no PCR! The thermocycler is the essential tool for PCR amplification. Today, many types of thermocyclers are available: from 16 to 384 wells, gradient models, and even open-source versions you can assemble yourself. To provide you with the device that best suits your needs, Jeulin offers a wide range of thermocyclers.

A thermocycler is composed of a heating block that accommodates PCR microtubes, plates, or strips, and includes a programmable system that sets the amplification cycles (temperature and duration). For routine work, a simple thermocycler is sufficient for most experiments; you simply select the number of tubes required to optimize your workflow. The differences between thermocyclers also lie in their programming features, memory capacity and data-transfer options are important criteria depending on your laboratory’s needs.

For method development, a gradient thermocycler can also be used. These devices allow you to test different temperatures within a single experiment to determine the optimal temperature.

In conventional PCR, results are analyzed at the end of the procedure. Real-time PCR thermocyclers have been developed to quantify the amplified product during the reaction.
