Geology Software (School CD-rom version)

The first approach to geology is done for most students at the middle school level. Some students sometimes have difficulty getting acquainted with this new discipline. Hence the interest of this new tool, usable both in class and in practical work, allowing a different entry into the geology program. Among the many interactive animations offered: - the study of the 1867 El Afroun earthquake based on articles from the press of that time, - a virtual excavation allowing the reconstruction of an environment, - dynamic studies of rocks, from outcrop to microscopy, - animations highlighting the existence of plates on the Earth's surface and their dynamics, the structure of the Earth and its functioning... The strengths of the software: For the student, a wide variety of resources: - 2D, 3D animations, - photos of outcrops, thin sections (photos usually active when hovering over them), - videos, - sections "Do you want to know more?" and "Did you know?" to go beyond the beaten path of the program, - numerous interactive exercises such as a virtual excavation in search of fossils, - a glossary of difficult words, - a mascot accompanying the student in their approach. For the teacher: - personalized student monitoring: the student identifies themselves in each session, allowing the teacher at the end of the session (or at any time) to review their different responses, - coverage of the majority of the program points, - numerous illustrations and original exercises. The CD-rom is organized into three parts: - Evolution of landscapes: effects of the Earth's external activity. - Evolution of landscapes: effects of the Earth's internal activity. - The Earth machine. Each of them includes two chapters, each with a course section introducing new concepts, exercises to use them, and a summary assessing the newly constructed concepts.
