ModSim Agrosystem Software

This innovative software offers an original interactive approach to the major concepts of agricultural ecosystems: yield, material and energy flows, environmental impacts. The new interface of ModSim Agrosystem V2 allows the student to multiply the combinations of hypotheses: choice of crops (rapeseed, wheat, corn), fertilizer inputs, water inputs (seasons, irrigation). By developing their own scenarios, students test and simulate the functioning of an agrosystem with the objective of reconciling the management of the village's water resources and agricultural production. The simulation, based on real field surveys (rainfall, water table, crop yield, etc...), produces the crop balances: minerals drawn from the soil, water balance, gas balance (CO₂; O₂), yields, energy (solar, biomass, fossil energy used). Thanks to this comparative approach and the documentary sheets linked to each situation, the student can take a critical look at the cultivation practices he or she has implemented.
