This device allows to demonstrate the Archimedes' principle.
The setup is of a water balance type supporting 2 masses, one of which is a sphere. The device is adjustable so that the balance is achieved at atmospheric pressure.
By then placing the baroscope previously set on the plate in a vacuum and covering the whole with a bell jar, the vacuum will cause the large sphere to tilt downwards. This movement justifies the decrease in the Archimedes' buoyant force that was pushing the sphere upwards.
