Blood test kit for Life Sciences experiments.
Objectives:
Promote understanding of immune phenomena related to blood groups.
Visualize agglutination phenomena.
Principle:
Present on support of microscopic preparations:
- reactions between an unknown blood and test serums containing antibodies corresponding to different blood groups (Beth-Vincent test);
- reactions between 3 types of standard red blood cells and a serum of the same group as the unknown blood (Simonin test).
Based on whether the reaction shows agglutination observed under the microscope, the student determines the blood group.
Example of composition of preparations related to group A:
4 preparations according to Beth-Vincent:
- Blood A + Anti-A antibodies: agglutination.
- Blood A + Anti-B antibodies: no agglutination.
- Blood A + Anti-A and Anti-B antibodies: agglutination.
- Blood A + Anti-H antibodies: no agglutination.
3 preparations according to Simonin:
- Serum A + A red blood cell standards: no agglutination.
- Serum A + B red blood cell standards: agglutination.
- Serum A + O red blood cell standards: no agglutination.
