Stirling engine practical work in ExAO:
The objective of this practical work is to highlight the real Stirling cycle in order to compare it to the theoretical cycle. Pressure, volume, and temperature are automatically acquired thanks to the provided Foxy interface.
Pressure is measured in real time using a pressure sensor connected to an orifice on the working piston cylinder. Volume is measured using a Hall effect sensor placed on the flywheel, and with a specific Stirling PV sensor developed by Jeulin.
The device allows for plotting the Stirling cycle on Clapeyron coordinates (pV diagram), thus enabling qualitative and quantitative analysis of the cycle.
Jeulin Exclusive:
After obtaining the Clapeyron diagram in the graphic tab of the provided Advanced Scientific Workshop software ref. 000131, it is possible, thanks to the integrated processing tools in the software, to easily determine the area under the curve (Integral) to obtain the value of the net work exchanged during a cycle.
Temperature can also be measured at the cold source and hot source directly on the cylinder. All these measurements are carried out with high acquisition speed and high reproducibility over time.
