This inclined bench is designed based on the brachistochrone curve problem (the shortest one). The student studies the acceleration of the ball according to different profiles. It is a way to approach the concept of converting potential energy into kinetic energy. The resolution of this problem comes from an assertion by Galileo who thought the solution was a circular arc. It was Jean Bernouilli who defined the solution as being a cycloid arc starting with the vertical tangent.
