Topics covered:

- Study of forced oscillations in air and in a fluid

- Study of mechanical resonance

- Comparison of the period of the exciter and the resonator

- Influence of damping on the amplitude of oscillations

- Analogy with electrical resonance

- Static, dynamic, and energy studies in a single lab session

Principles and objectives:

This experiment is part of the standard lab sessions focusing on the study of the resonance of a vertical pendulum. The goal is to

vary the rotation frequency of the eccentric using the power supply, hence the frequency.

A complete setup for different approaches:

- Static study to determine the spring constant k

- Dynamic study highlighting the existence of a natural frequency of the system and a pseudo-frequency

- Energy study with calculation and monitoring of mechanical energy over time

- Study of the mechanical resonance phenomenon and determination of the impact of parameters (K, mass, etc...)

- Understanding the phase shift between excitation and response and making an analogy with electrical circuits.

- Studying the influence of damping on the amplitude of oscillations, excitation, and observing the movement of the

resonator.

Thanks to the fluorescent marker, tracking the movement

in the video is precise and fast.
