Free fall Experiment in Computer-Assisted Experimentation
Topics covered:
- Uniformly accelerated rectilinear motion
- Second law of Newton
- Earth's gravitational field
- Determination of the Earth's acceleration
Principles and objectives:
Free fall is defined as the movement of a body subjected only to gravity.
Applying Newton's second law with initial velocity and position being zero gives:
z(t) = ½ gt2 (1) and gi = 2 zi/ t2i (2)
Using the scientific workshop software suite, with the Foxy console equipped with 2 Chronociné sensors, allows for plotting the curve z(t). The software's numerous mathematical and drawing tools, including modeling and differentiation, enable a comprehensive study of the fall (kinetic, energetic, etc.)
