The rotating pendulum is used to analyze free, forced, and chaotic oscillations in the presence of various dampings.
Experiment topics:
• Free oscillations with different dampings (oscillations with moderate damping, aperiodic oscillation, and aperiodic limit case)
• Forced oscillations and resonance curves with different dampings
• Phase shift between the exciter and the resonator in case of resonance
• Chaotic oscillations (sustained)
Rotating pendulum for the analysis of free, forced, and chaotic oscillations in the presence of various dampings.
With graduated ring and needles on the resonator and the exciter.
The oscillating system consists of a copper wheel, mounted on a ball bearing, and connected to the exciter's bar by a spiral spring.
The excitation of forced oscillations is provided by an electric motor connected by an eccentric. Approximate and precise adjustment of the motor speed. An electromagnetic brake with Foucault currents ensures damping.
The device can also be used for shadow projection demonstrations.
