Topics covered:

- Nuclear spins

- Atomic nuclei / Magnetic moment

- Precession of nuclear spins

- Magnetization / Resonance condition

- Nutation angle

- Spin echo / Relaxation time

Principles and objectives:
The fundamental principles of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) phenomenon are explored.
Experiments are conducted using an educational device allowing the study of small samples. Control is done through the provided software. Investigations include adjusting the system frequency to the Larmor frequency, determining the tilting angle of the magnetization vector (nutation angle), the influence of substance quantity and specific magnetic field inhomogeneities, measuring a spin echo signal, and a signal averaging procedure to optimize the signal-to-noise ratio. Adjusting all these parameters is essential to obtain a usable NMR image. The proposed tasks are:
- Adjusting the system frequency to the Larmor frequency.
- Adjusting the duration of the RF (Radio Frequency) pulse to determine the tilting angle of the magnetization vector (nutation angle).
- Studying the influence of substance quantity on the amplitude of the Free Induction Decay (FID) signal. Correcting superimposed magnetic field inhomogeneity defects (SHIM).
- Obtaining a relaxed Free Induction Decay (FID) signal by spin echo with a 180°C rephasing pulse. Optimizing the signal-to-noise ratio of the Free Induction Decay (FID) signal.
