Topics covered:
- Metal loop
- Biot-Savart law
- Hall effect / Magnetic field
- Induction
- Magnetic flux density
Principles and objectives:
The magnetic field along the axis of metal loops and coils of different dimensions is measured using a teslameter (Hall probe). The relationship between the maximum field intensity and the dimensions is studied, and a comparison is made between the measured and theoretical effects of position.
The main experimental parts consist of:
- Measuring the intensity of magnetic flux in the middle of different wire loops with the Hall probe and studying its dependence on the radius and number of turns.
- Determining the constant of the magnetic field.
- Measuring the magnetic flux density along the axis of long coils and comparing it to theoretical values.
Comments:
Simple setup that allows easy measurement of magnetic flux intensity based on different parameters. No calibration needed, the teslameter is calibrated up to 1 T.
