Deflectron
This device is particularly suitable for the quantitative study of the trajectory of an electron beam in an electric field E. The effect of the combination of an electric field and a magnetic field will also be examined. Description: The 127 mm vacuum tube consists of an electron gun (filament + anode), a mica screen, and 2 plates for electric deflection. The mica screen is coated with a fluorescent substance. It is placed tangentially to the electron beam and allows to materialize its trajectory. The set of cables ref. 283 598 is highly recommended to meet the specific connectivity of the D-tube. The fork supporting the tube can pivot, allowing for orientation of the tube and therefore the electron beam in the electromagnetic field. The 140 mm coils can handle an intensity of 1 A at 12 V (up to 1.8 A for a duration of less than 10 minutes). Comes with instructions. Warranty: 2 years (except for the tube: 1 year). Manipulations: - Electric and magnetic deflection with Helmholtz coils powered by 12 V / 1 A DC. The electron beam is deflected in a circle. - Electrostatic deflection: a voltage of 2 to 3,000 V is applied to the terminals of the deflection plates. The beam follows a parabolic trajectory.
