On order

The spatial light modulator studied here is based on transmissive liquid crystal microcrystals and has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels for a 3 cm side field.
This SLM provides a phase shift of approximately 2 π at 450 nm, 1.8 π at 532 nm, and 1 π at 800 nm.
The SLM comes with a mount, power supply, USB cable, HDMI cable, adapter, control software with example library, and Labview programs.

Topics covered:
- Optical configuration of a projector
- Properties of polarized light
- Optical properties of liquid crystals
- Phase modulation and amplitude modulation of light
- Diffraction by structures with dynamic changes
- Self-designed diffractive optical elements and their interaction
- Spatial frequency filtering
- Fourier optics, interferometry, holography

Principles and objectives:
The SLM device is easy to use for displaying images using a monochrome and transparent liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. The small size of the system and its comfortable control interface are major features to enable easy use.
This lab session allows the study of the principles and applications of SLM in the fields of imaging, diffraction, Fourier optics, and polarization.
