Diffraction pattern by a slit or a wire
Topics covered:
- Diffraction by a slit or a wire
- Babinet's theorem
- Fraunhofer figures
Principles and objectives:
The phenomenon of diffraction occurs when a light wave encounters an obstacle of small dimension (on the order of the wavelength of the incident wave) during its propagation. One can then observe diffraction patterns behind these obstacles, the characteristics of which depend on the shape and size of the obstacle.
