Balmer Series Supplement
This complement makes it possible to study the Balmer series as well as the line spectra of Helium and Neon.
Subject matter :
- Study of line spectra
Principles and objectives:
A goniometer allows the characterization of light sources by identifying the positioning of the emission lines. Thus, using a chart, it is possible to determine the chemical species that make up the observed light source.
The Balmer series designates the series of hydrogen lines, each corresponding to the energy transition from a higher state to the level 2 state. In the visible, it is possible to distinguish the first 4 lines: Hα, line red @656 nm, Hβ, turquoise line @486 nm, Hγ, blue line @434 nm and Hδ, violet line @410 nm
