Additional measurements for Michelson interferometer
Subjects discussed :
- Air index measurement
- Measurement of the thickness and/or index of a very thin section
- Study of anti-coincidences of Sodium and determination of the doublet
Principles and objectives:
A Michelson interferometer is an amplitude division interference system of which there are two operating modes.
1- When the two mirrors of the interferometer are parallel to the separator, we speak of air gap adjustment. This results in fringes in rings located at infinity.
2- When one of the mirrors is slightly inclined relative to the other, we speak of air wedge adjustment. This results in rectilinear fringes located in the vicinity of the interferometer mirrors.
