Circular Chladni plate

To be used with the electromechanical vibrator ref 204473

The frequency of the vibrator is controlled by a function generator.

The plate is made of black lacquered steel and comes with a 4 mm banana plug, which fits into the socket on the vibrator. When the vibrator oscillates, the plate also oscillates. A thin layer of fine sand is spread on the plate and resonance patterns can be observed at certain frequencies determined by the shape of the plate.

The first to examine these patterns was the German, Ernst Chladni, in the early 19th century.
