Robot Thymio II Wireless (wireless)
Thymio 2 is a small robot that is completely open source, allowing you to discover the world of robotics and easily teach robot language. You can use it in discovery mode or program it to imagine numerous educational experiences.
Educational Interests for Grades 3 and 4; Science & Technology, Programming
- Understand that machines operate with energy, sensors, actuators, and programs.
- Understand that machines operate with algorithms, and that movements are planned in advance.
- Be able to observe scientifically to draw conclusions.
- Program a robot for real.
- Understand what a "bug" is and learn to identify and solve them.
Programming
The Thymio 2 is immediately operational with its 6 pre-programmed behaviors (friendly, fearful, inspector, etc.). Compatible with Scratch, it can also be programmed with the freely downloadable ASEBA software from the web, which offers 3 different programming types: VPL, Blockly, and Studio, allowing for the comprehensive exploration of the 3 main methods used for educational purposes.
The interest of the "wireless" model
- Wireless USB dongle included
- Wireless programming and control
- Real-time program monitoring in VPL mode
- Check sensors, adjust motor speed
- Display variables or events on a graph
- Communication between "wireless" robots up to a distance of 50 m
