GMO Detection Kit (DNA electrophoresis)
This lab exercise aims to control the presence or absence of transgenic DNA fragments in organic corn.
Electrophoresis highlights the gene amplifications obtained by PCR.
Technical principle:
The amplification targets 2 specific genes of the transgene vector (plasmid), the CaMV35S promoter and the NOS3' terminator, characteristics of 85% of transgenic plants.
The test compares a reference GMO product (GMO+) and a sample to be tested (GMO-).
To validate the quality of the amplification, the PSII enzymatic complex of chloroplasts, naturally present in all plants, is targeted.
The DNA solutions are calibrated and require no preparation.
