Kit Blob and growing equipment - Complete pack
The 'blob's mode of reproduction resembles that of fungi, but its way of feeding and moving is more similar to the animal kingdom. This giant cell, which can reach 10 m² in the laboratory, is intriguing. It has multiple nuclei and lacks a nervous system. Yet, it exhibits remarkable learning characteristics that can be replicated in the classroom. The complete kit consists of sclerotia, reactivation medium, and the necessary materials for conducting your cultures. We offer 2 strains of different origins: - The identical American strain is the one used by Thomas Pesquet for space experiments. - The Australian strain to complement the study with a comparative approach. This kit is ideal for studying the impact of temperature change on the Blob's development as suggested by the CNRS's participatory science experiment "Behind the Blob, the Research"! Add the 75W infrared bulb (283971), the infrared lamp (566037), the thermometer (290129), and Petri dishes (714198). Format: Variable depending on sclerotia replanting Experiment duration: Several sessions (monitoring Blob development) Storage duration: 6 months (or more if sclerotia are replanted) Storage conditions: Room temperature, dry
The kit consists of:
- About ten sclerotia (2 sachets)
- Petri dishes 90 mm (pack of 30)
- Filter paper 90 mm (pack of 100)
- Oat flakes (75 g)
- 1 bottle of ready-to-pour agar culture medium (200 ml)
