Scenedesmus in suspension 50 mL

Freshwater green algae, very reactive in photosynthesis experiments. They are very easy to maintain and more robust than chlorellas. Delivered in a 50 mL transparent glass bottle. It is recommended to culture the scenedesmus in a suitable medium 1 to 2 weeks before the experiment. Scenedesmus grows very well in the BG11 culture medium (ref. 117113) at a temperature above 18-20°C. Procedure for maintaining the strains: *Work in the most sterile conditions possible - In a sterile 500 mL flask, pour the BG11 10X medium bottle (117113) and complete with sterile distilled water up to 500 mL - In another sterile flask (250/500 mL), pour the entire bottle of suspended microorganisms and close with a cotton ball wrapped in gauze (cotton plug) - Add between 20 and 50 mL of medium every 2 weeks and shake the culture flask very regularly (ideally every day). Expose to light 12/14 hours a day
