Kit The principles of electrophoresis
This electrophoresis initiation kit has a dual purpose: to grasp the technical principles of electrophoresis and to understand its function in a scientific approach. Carry out 3 types of experiments with our 12 ready-to-deposit reagents: 1 - Separation based on molecular size The student deposits colored mixtures in the wells. Migration will allow the separation of the different components of the deposited reagents. 2 - Separation based on isoelectric point Through this experiment, the true driving force behind the movement of molecules, namely the electrical characteristics of molecules subjected to an electric field, is visualized. 3 - Principle of transilluminator and visualization by fluorescence The main observations of the results are made with the naked eye; however, among the reagents used, some also have fluorescent properties under blue light excitation. With the help of a transilluminator device, we will be able to address the concepts of excitation and emission light. Format for 40 students: 240 deposits, which is 40 electrophoresis gels Shelf life: 1 year at room temperature Separation of DNA fragments: 3% agarose gel
