Size Exclusion Chromatography Kit - 1660008EDU | Bio-Rad
With this kit, your students will be able to put into practice an experiment of size exclusion chromatography, a type of chromatography used to separate solubilized molecules according to their size or molecular weight. This method is commonly used in biotechnology research and industry. Experiments: Your students apply a mixture of colored molecules to a chromatography column containing microscopic porous beads. As the solution flows through the column, the larger molecules flow around the beads while the smaller molecules penetrate the porous beads and are hindered in their flow. The different speeds of movement of the solutes through the column lead to an efficient and clearly visible separation. Thanks to this kit, the invisible becomes visible by using a mixture of natural and colored molecules (hemoglobin, reddish-brown in color, and vitamin B12, pink in color). Prepare this laboratory activity in just 10 minutes. Duration of the lab session = 45 minutes Format for 32 students Shelf life: 12 months
The kit consists of:
- Hemoglobin/vitamin B12 sample mixture
- 8 Bio-Gel® P-60 columns with caps
- 10 disposable plastic transfer pipettes
- 1 column chromatography buffer (50 ml)
- 100 sample collection tubes (5 ml)
- 1 user manual
