Soundtrack excerpt:
1st STL: Field of biotechnologies applied to the environment: water quality.
Senior year STL: Exploiting an experimental activity in wastewater treatment processes to identify the stages involving living organisms and specify their roles.

Scientific problem:
Using living organisms as depolluting agents.
Water renewal is ensured by its natural recycling, but climate disruptions and human activity destabilize this process. Moreover, clean water free of chemical contaminants is essential for life.
On a global scale, polluted water is the leading cause of human mortality. Water is therefore a fragile resource, and controlling urban, industrial, and agricultural pollution is a global challenge.
Implementing a biological water treatment system in the classroom proves to be very interesting for:
- Identifying the major stages of wastewater treatment, including physico-chemical, chemical, and biological processes.
- Introducing students to the concept of microbial ecology.
- Establishing methods to measure treatment efficiency.
