SL 4 / HS 4 Experimentally determine the image focus of a converging lens and its focal distance.
Position a monochromatic radiation on a provided scale.
Dispersion of light by a prism.
Introduction:
Lenses are ubiquitous in optical instruments, eye defect corrections... In order to use them to model different phenomena, it is necessary to know their properties.
The first part of this lab session is dedicated to determining the focal distance of a converging lens using two different methods: autocollimation and the Bessel method.
The second experiment describes how to easily obtain the spectrum of white light through dispersion by a prism.
